Belinda
Mitchell was convicted of felony grand theft in November
2003 in Sacramento County, CA and sentenced to 4 years in
prison. Her husband, Richard Mitchell, was
sentenced to one year and placed on probation for his
collaboration in a scam that defrauded a Sacramento area
man out of nearly a half million dollars.
Belinda and Richard, who masqueraded as Belinda's brother,
worked together to convince the victim that she loved him and
wanted to marry him. She obtained money from the victim
by deceiving him into believing that she had cancer and
needed money to pay for the treatment.
The Mitchells are members of a gypsy family that live in
both northern and southern California.
